Efficient pipeline installation with pressing technology

Pipe installation projects – whether in technical building systems or the industrial sector – are often subject to high cost and time pressure. You can meet these requirements quickly and reliably with press connections for pipes. And this has been the case for over 60 years.

Whether you’re using metal pipes or multilayer piping systems made of plastic and aluminium, joining pipes using pressing technology allows simple, clean installation without the risk of fire and ensures long-lasting, secure connections.

Once installed, no time-consuming inspections are required, as is usually the case with welding. Any qualified plumber can carry out the installation. Compared to traditional methods such as soldering or welding, pressed joints save a lot of time and increase the efficiency of your projects.

How press connections work Safe and durable

Components work together perfectly for maximum safety

Press connections are reliable because all the components in the system are designed to work together precisely. The system includes:

  • Press fitting
  • System pipe
  • Pressing tool (pressing mechanism and pressing jaw/collar)

All fittings and pipes for the Geberit Mapress,Geberit FlowFitandGeberit Mepla piping systems have been carefully calibrated and tested to work together perfectly. Pressing jaws are used for smaller pipe diameters, while pressing collars together with the right pressing tool are used for larger pipe diameters.

The compatibility class is clearly labelled, making it quick and easy to find the right product.

Press connection technology creates a permanently secure connection

The mechanical strength of a pipe joint comes from reshaping the press fitting and system pipe. A seal ring that adapts perfectly to the cross-section also ensures a permanently leakproof connection thanks to its elastic restoring force.

Pressed joints are therefore a permanent, positive and force-fit pipe joint that provides a technically reliable seal.

Benefits of Geberit press pipe systems Clever mechanisms for secure connections

Geberit’s press pipe systems make it much easier to install pipes and meet the requirements of a wide range of applications. The future-proof technology offers a number of benefits.

1. Secure press connection thanks to controlled pressing procedure

Each fitting has a precise guide for the pressing jaws or pressing collars to ensure that the tool is positioned correctly and that each connection is made in a controlled manner.

The standardised pressing procedure guarantees consistently high connection quality, regardless of who installs it.

For users, this means maximum process reliability, reproducible results and reliable connections for every installation – easy, efficient and professional.

2. Lightweight tools instead of heavy welding equipment

Welding pipes requires large, heavy equipment, gas cylinders and extensive steps to ensure safety. This means the effort and preparation times involved are high.

Geberit pressing systems allow pipes to be connected simply and securely without welding. They can be joined with compact, handy pressing tools and suitable pressing jaws or collars. The tools are lightweight, compact and ready for immediate use – no open flame, cooling time or reworking.

The makes work faster, more convenient and more productive.

3. Immediate indication of successful pressing

Geberit Mapress and Geberit FlowFit allow you to immediately see which connections have already been pressed. Coloured pressing indicators automatically detach during the pressing procedure and can then be easily removed – or fall off by themselves.

During pressing

The pressing indicator detaches during pressing and can be removed with a small pull.

After pressing

The pressing indicator automatically detaches once the pressing has been successfully completed. This makes visual inspection easier because you can immediately see whether all pipes have been securely connected to each other – even in poor lighting conditions.

4. No follow-up inspection required

All components in the pressing procedure are designed to work together perfectly for a consistent, controlled and reproducible process. Every connection is created according to the same tried-and-trusted principle. This leads to permanently secure and consistently high-quality connections.

This reliable process eliminates the need for time-consuming follow-up inspections of individual pipe joints, which not only saves time on site, but also makes it easier to make accurate plans and reduces potential sources of error during installation.

5. Traceable pressing thanks to device data

You can use the NovoCheck app to look up device-specific data for Geberit pressing tools. The app also allows you to read the log, which shows, among other things, whether all joints have been pressed. You can use this information to help document installations.

6. Quickly availability of specialists – no additional training required

Unlike welding, you don’t need any extensive training or special certificates to press pipe connections. Geberit offers training for qualified plumbers and pipe fitters within a short time at training events or directly on site. They can then safely press piping systems.

6. No complex additional training is required to safely press pipe joints.

7. No fire risk and safe during ongoing work

This clean pressing technology can be used during ongoing renovation work – without interrupting existing processes.

Joints are pressed cold and without an open flame, so there is no risk in or for the site when pressing connections. No additional and time-consuming safety measures are required to avoid fire risks.

Frequently asked questions about pipe press connections

What applications and media are press connections suitable for?

In addition to drinking water, you can also use press connections for other media such as gases or compressed air. Geberit offers variouspipes for industrial applications. You can use theGeberit PipeSelect toolto check the exact resistance of Geberit piping systems.

How long do press connections last?

Pressing is a cold forming process that creates a permanent connection. The connection technology has proven itself in various applications for more than 50 years.

What are the limits of press connections?

Press connections are suitable for various pipe materials up to a diameter of d108 / DN 100.

Screw connections or welding joints are currently used for larger dimensions. As there are structural gaps between the pipe and the fitting during pressing, pressed joints are not suitable for any fluids that require a completely gap-free connection.

Are press connections suitable for aggressive or chemical fluids?

Geberit MapressPressing systems are suitable for a wide range of fluids, including chemicals. In many cases, it depends on the medium, its concentration, the operating parameters and the desired piping system.
